When gamers aren’t playing games in person, they’re likely streaming their games on Twitch. It’s one of the largest gaming platforms on the web, attracting millions of people who watch other gamers play their favorite titles. If you’re a Twitch streamer, or if you like to watch others’ streams, you may have noticed that some videos are marked as VODs (videos on demand). VODs allow you to keep past broadcasts, known as highlights, for up to 60 days after the stream is over. However, if you’re not a paid Twitch creator, you won’t be able to download VODs of your own stream or other users’ streams.
If you want to save a highlight or VOD Save Videos from Twitch on your computer, you’ll need to enable the feature by using a tool called TwitchDownloader. This tool works on both Windows and Mac computers and is free to download from the Twitch website. Once you’ve downloaded the program, open it and paste the link of the VOD into the text box at the top of the window. Then click the three stacked dots in the top right corner to get a drop-down menu. Select Download in the menu to save the video as an mp4 file.
Another way to save a Twitch highlight or VOD is by going to your Creator Dashboard and selecting Content in the left sidebar, then Video Producer. Once you find the stream or highlight that you’d like to save, you can either create a clip of it in Video Producer or simply click the Publish button to make it a VOD. VODs will be available for 60 days if you’re a paid Twitch Creator, or if you’re an Amazon Prime member or Twitch Turbo subscriber, you can keep them up to a year.
Twitch clips are short videos trimmed from live streams, VODs, or highlights. They’re an easy way to keep track of your favorite moments from your own or other streamers’ broadcasts, and they can be downloaded to your PC for later viewing.
To create a Twitch clip, hover over the video while watching it and select the clapperboard icon in the bottom right corner of the screen. You’ll then be prompted to title the clip and choose its duration. Once you’re happy with the clip, click Publish to save it.
You can also create a Twitch clip on mobile by tapping the screen while watching a video or live event and selecting the share button. From there, you can tap the arrow in the top right corner of the screen to save the video as an mp4. If you’re an Android user, you can use a third-party app to download a Twitch clip. There are several apps on the Google Play Store that claim to do this, but most of them don’t actually work very well. You’re better off downloading a software program that can handle this task for you, such as 4K Video Downloader+. This tool is available for both Windows and macOS, and it supports most major video sharing sites, including Twitch.
